Meet your Physicians
Dr. Michelle Brosnan

Dr. Michelle Brosnan has always been a New Yorker, and so it is fitting that she has joined the CityMD practice. She received her Bachelor's degree from Fordham University, graduating cum laude. She then went on to pursue her medical degree at New York Medical College. She completed her preliminary year of internal medicine at Saint Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan and then completed her training in Emergency Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. In her final year of residency, she was given the honor of being chief resident.
Dr. Brosnan has gained extensive experience caring for children and adults by working in various emergency rooms on Long Island. She knows the importance of the patient experience, and thus was a member of various committees that worked to improve patient care and safety.
Dr. Brosnan lives on Long Island with her husband and two dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys jogging, reading, and working with various charitable organizations. Over the past two years, she has raised thousands of dollars for cancer research as a participant for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training and she is also an active member of the transport team for the French Bulldog Rescue Network.
Dr. John Kahoun

Dr Kahoun is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School and the LIJ Emergency Medicine Residency Program. He completed two years of graduate work in pharmacology while at the UW and a year of research into spinal cord trauma at the Centre Propara in Montpellier, France. He’s certified with the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and a fellow with the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has trained residents at Maimonides Medical Center and at the Long Island College Hospital, and most recently served as Director of Clinical Operations in the ER at St Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown, NY.
Dr Kahoun is thrilled to be working in Urgent Care in the City. He speaks Spanish and French, and lives in Brooklyn with his wife and son.
Dr. Jack Liu

Dr. Jack Liu is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. He started his undergraduate training at Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education in NYC. He then earned his medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook University School of Medicine. He completed his combined residency program for both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. During his residency, he was awarded Intern of the Year (2003), Teaching Resident of the Year (2007), and served as Chief Resident during his final year.
Dr. Liu lives in Queens with his wife and daughter. He enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include swimming, biking and participating in triathlons.
Dr. Gary Mazer

Dr. Gary Mazer is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. His undergraduate training was at Wagner college in Staten Island where he was valedictorian. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Health and Science Center of Brooklyn (Downstate) Medical School. His residency training was at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Emergency and Internal Medicine. He was awarded Intern of the Year and served as Chief Resident in his final year of training. He lives in Great Neck, N.Y., with his wife and 2 boys.
Dr. Richard Park

Board Certified in Emergency Medicine

Medical School: Albert Einstein College of Medicine
After establishing acclaimed urgent care practices in Long Island, Dr. Park brings his expertise to Manhattan. Dr Park is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and completed his medical studies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NY. He completed his training in emergency medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center's Residency program where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Park continued his career as the Associate Program Director of the residency program at NS-LIJ's emergency department and was awarded the Teaching Attending of the Year Award by his residents for 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2007 he was recognized as an expert educator and awarded a system-wide award and additionally participated in the "teach the teacher" fellowship program.
He is the author and co-editor-in-chief of McGraw-Hill's Intensive Review of Emergency Medicine text. In addition, he educates residents and attending physicians alike as the co-director of the NS-LIJ's Manhattan Board Review for Emergency Medicine.
It is Dr. Park's vision and expertise in all facets of urgent care delivery and operation, combined with his overwhelming concern in delivering easily accessible, top quality medical care that has made CityMD the best place for urgent care . Dr. Park lives on Long Island with his wife and 2 children.
Dr. Leonard Pastula

After completing medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Pastula began his residency training at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. There he excelled in both clinical and administrative skills, becoming chief resident in his last year of training. Dr. Pastula brings to CityMD years of experience since finishing his training in 2001. He has demonstrated excellence as an ED physician in both suburban and urban communities, having worked in various emergency departments in New York and New Jersey. He is highly skilled at working with pediatric as well as adult and geriatric patients. Dr. Pastula’s extensive emergency medicine experience combined with his affability and excellent bedside manner make him an invaluable member of the CityMD team.
Dr. Nedal Shami

Dr. Shami received his Bachelors degree from New York University and went on to obtain his medical degree at University College Dublin, graduating with Cum Laude Honors. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and went on to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident. 

Dr. Shami has been involved in numerous charity organizations supporting medical missions in developing countries around the world. In 2011 he traveled to Haiti and led a medical team after the devastating earthquake and received the Hero of Haiti Award. >
Dr. Shami lives with his wife on the upper west side of Manhattan. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Emergency Medicine Residents Association, the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, the Ridgewood Medical Society, the NJ Medical Society, and the NY Medical Society.
Dr. David Shih

Dr. David Shih is board certified in Emergency Medicine and a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He received his undergraduate degree from Binghamton University and his Medical Degree from SUNY Downstate.
Dr. Shih completed his preliminary year of Internal Medicine at Staten Island University Hospital and his residency for Emergency Medicine at Long Jewish Medical Center. He has worked in various emergency rooms in the New York and Long Island area, serving both the adult and pediatric population. He now brings his expertise and compassionate care to CityMD and is currently involved in training the medical staff.
As a New Yorker, he is an avid fan of the Mets, Giants and Knicks. Over the past five years, he has created and managed a computer graphics website company. Dr. Shih was born in Taiwan and is fluent in Mandarin and understands Taiwanese.
